Professor Banerjee's research interests center on turbulent and multiphase flows that are important in industrial and environmental problems. For example, global climate changes depend crucially on gas, heat, and water vapor fluxes at the atmosphere-ocean interface. These, in turn, are governed by turbulence structure near the ocean surface. Similarly, the evolution of hazardous discharges from process and power plants are largely determined by the turbulent motion in the atmospheric boundary layer.
