In March 2009 Jason defended his thesis. As a Chemical Engineering student at UCSB Jason worked with Professors Frank Doyle and Linda Petzold in the Systems Biology research focus group.
During the summer of 2006 Jason worked with Dr. Hiraoki Kitano, one of the pioneers of modern Systems Biology, at the ERATO Systems Biology Institute in Tokyo from June through October as part of the East Asian Pacific Summer Institute program funded by NSF. Jason focused on the application of robustness tools in understanding cellular signaling
