MICHAEL CROWELL:
Mike is a fourth year student in Materials and is working with Robert McMeeking and Bjorn Birnir (Math). His research is studying ceramic thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) and is part of the Complex Fluids Research Focus group.
During the summer of 2006 Mike was a visiting student in Dr. Norman Fleck's group in Cambridge University Engineering Department. There he worked on developing and impact testing scaled-up 'model' material systems that would mimic TBC behavior and further our understanding of how to make TBC's resistant to foreign objects impacts.
