COMPUTATIONAL MATERIALS SCIENCE:

Materials science has the potential to become a powerful, cost-effective approach for developing materials and process design strategies that achieve optimal component/device function. The IGERT team on materials science focuses on realizing this potential through advances in methods and algorithms, accompanied by the ever-increasing capabilities of high-performance computing. Materials systems of industrial interest present major computational challenges since they are typically multiscale and highly heterogeneous.
