THE UCSB IGERT PROGRAM IN CSE FEATURES:

• Research in interdisciplinary teams in focus areas including:
  • Complex Fluids
  • Computational Materials Science
  • Systems Biology
    
    
• Joint advising of Ph.D. theses, with at least one advisor from science and engineering, and one from mathematics or computer science

• A travel budget for academic meetings
  
  
• 2 years of guaranteed support (contingent on making sufficient progress)... after 2 years it is generally easy to obtain a research assistantship
  
  
• A curriculum which is broad in CSE tools and methodologies, and deep in a traditional academic discipline (IGERT students will take the CSE graduate core courses, along with courses on multiscale simulation and high performance computing which were specifically designed to complement the IGERT research areas)
