THE IGERT ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

In accordance with the National Science Foundation rules, only US citizens are eligible for the IGERT Fellowship Program.

Therefore, international students are encouraged to apply for the IGERT Associate Program.

Research and teaching assistantships are often available via participating IGERT departments and IGERT Associates will share the advantages of:

  • Research in interdisciplinary teams in focus areas including:
  • Joint advising of Ph.D. theses, with at least one advisor from science and engineering, and one from mathematics or computer science

  • A curriculum which is broad in CSE tools and methodologies, and deep in a traditional academic discipline (IGERT students will take the CSE graduate core courses, along with courses on multiscale simulation and high performance computing which were specifically designed to complement the IGERT research areas)

  • Career development workshops

  • Development of presentation and communication skills
  • Equipment and travel funds are often available through departmental research assistantships
